Vin Diesel needs to stop and think. When he first came on the map with XXX and The Fast and the Furious, people thought he was an awesome action superstar. Now, people look at him and say “oh boy, another Vin movie.” Babylon A.D. is sloppy, but it does have its moments.
First we have Vin Diesel who plays Toorop (yes, that is really is his name), Toorop is a mercenary who accepts a job to bring Aurora, played by Melanie Thierry, to America. Also, playing in this movie is Michelle Yeoh who plays Sister Rebeka, she watches over Aurora while on the trip to America. That is really the only main actors in the movie.Babylon A.D. is sloppy, like I said before. It is sloppy because of the editing; the action sequences seemed too fake. The whole movie in general felt lost, it seemed they were running out of ideas after the cool submarine pops out of the ice (now, that was a very cool gimmick). Also, Aurora was very annoying crying and telling Toorop not to kill anybody. When Aurora said that, Toorop still killed some guy and that was good. It was good because in every other movie if a girl starts crying and says don’t kill him, the person usually doesn’t do it, but Toorop kills when he needs to. One more thing the original cut was 161 minutes long! Did they really need to edit half the movie?
Babylon A.D. would have been good if they did a better job editing the film. I still think Vin has it in him with the newest Fast and the Furious movie coming out. Skip Babylon because the DVD unrated cut or whatever will probably be better.
